College Football

Here in Baton Rouge, our real estate agents look forward to football season. Every game day is a big event when the Tigers are playing, but there's also a lot more to see and do on game day than just football.

If you're in town to watch LSU battle it out this season, it's worth it to arrive in Baton Rouge early. That way, you'll have a chance to enjoy some of these extra game day activities, from campus tours and sightseeing to local restaurants and favorite tailgating spots.

Grab a Bite on Game Day

Baton Rouge is almost as famous for its food as it is for LSU Football, so don't miss out on a chance to enjoy some tasty game-day chow. Coffee Call, established in 1976 and still family-owned and operated, is the traditional place to start the day with coffee and beignets. The Chimes is a classic spot for lunch or pre-game drinks just north of campus, offering a scratch-made menu of Cajun-influenced staples that includes some of the best Fried catfish and po'boys in town, along with a great oyster bar.

Take an LSU Campus Tour

Taking a guided tour of Louisiana State University is a great way to experience more of what the campus has to offer beyond Tigers Stadium. Whether you're a prospective student or just someone who wants to explore, taking an LSU Group Tour is a great way to spend part of a day in Baton Rouge. You can also get the lay of the land ahead of time with this Virtual Campus Tour.

Do Some Sightseeing

There are plenty of great landmarks within walking distance of the stadium and elsewhere in Baton Rouge, making it a great city for sightseeing. The Old State Capitol and the LSU Rural Life Museum are just a couple of great spots to check out. You might also see some of these Baton Rouge homes for sale while you're out and about.

Tailgate Like a Pro

Tailgating is definitely a big deal before Tigers games, and you're likely to see fans massed in a few key spots around the university all day long. The Parade Grounds, a pristine green space in the heart of campus, is one of the most popular among students, who reliably gather here on game days. Another is Touchdown Village, the nickname given to the ample stretch of the parking lot where trucks and RVs congregate just off South Quad Drive.

Visit Mike the Tiger

Did you know that the LSU Tigers' living mascot is a real tiger who lives on campus? No pilgrimage to LSU is complete without a visit to Mike the Tiger's Habitat, a 15,000-square-foot environment complete with trees and a waterfall. The habitat is located adjacent to the stadium on North Stadium Drive in Baton Rouge.
