New Orleans Museum Month is the perfect time to get out and see all of the outstanding museums right here in New Orleans. There are nearly two dozen museums in the city, and you can access all of them at reduced fees throughout the month of August with a single membership payment. Participating museums include such favorites as the 1850 House, Ashe Cultural Arts Center, Contemporary Arts Center, Gallier House, Hermann-Grima House, Historic BK House and Gardens, Longue Vue House and Gardens, Louisiana Children's Museum, and the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience.
- Red Dress Run – 2300 North Peters Street, New Orleans, LA 70117, August 10, 2024
Red Dress Run is a tradition that takes place on the second Saturday in August every year. This charity run, led by the New Orleans Hash House Harriers, is considered the most unique running event in the world. All locals and visitors who participate in the run must wear the iconic red dress. Tickets are $65 each. 100% of the proceeds from this two-mile run go to local charities, and pre-registration is available online. All participants are advised to plan for rideshare, taxi, or public transportation to and from the event because of limited parking and large crowds – but ask anyone who has gone in previous years, and you'll know it's worth it!

Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff is the way to make the annual Sugar Bowl even more fun and exciting. Held at the Caesars Superdome, it is the official kickoff to the college football season that New Orleans locals look forward to all year long. And, of course, it's a terrific way to spend the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. This year, you'll see such stars as Eric Church, Thomas Rhett, Jon Pardi, and Ashley McBryde.
- NOLA Pickle Fest – 900 Convention Center Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70130 August 7, 2024 Through August 11, 2024
NOLA Pickle Fest is the premier festival-style pickleball tournament in New Orleans. With 24 tournament-grade pickleball courts, live music, and a celebrity exhibition game that will keep you on your toes, the action is split into two brackets: "Open" for general participants and "40+." Women, men, and mixed doubles will play.
