When all your favorite stores start feeling stale, visiting local pop-up markets is a great way to shake things up. Good news: there are many of these small-scale shopping events coming to the area near our New Orleans homes for sale over the next few weeks. Join our team at these NOLA pop-up markets this winter and discover your new favorite way to shop.
Lafreniere Park Farmer's and Art Market gathers more than 60 local vendors for one of the largest pop-up market events in the region. Nearby farms and food service businesses will be on-site selling things like:
Some of our real estate agents do a significant chunk of their grocery shopping here!
Aside from food, you'll also find hundreds of works of art for sale. Shop the stalls for handcrafted products such as:
The market is open from 1 PM to 6 PM every Wednesday throughout the year, including winter. Business is usually slow in the first few weeks after the holiday rush, so it's a good time to visit and avoid crowds while supporting local artisans.
Arts Market New Orleans is a monthly public art sale and exhibition organized by the Arts Council of New Orleans. It's a juried show that features the work of more than 300 carefully selected artists from our regional community. You'll find everything from paintings and sculptures to soaps, kitchenware, and beauty products for sale here, all made by independent creators with a passion for their craft.
The Arts Market is open from 10 AM to 4 PM on the last Saturday of each month (January 31st, February 28th, and March 28th this winter). Most vendors accept debit and credit as well as cash, but it's a good idea to bring a few bills along just in case.
Crescent City Farmers Market operates year-round in three different locations around New Orleans. The largest of these is the City Park market that opens every Sunday in the City Putt parking lot. Over 40 vendors set up shop here each week, including:
All vendors at the market accept either cash or tokens, which you can purchase from the Welcome Tent using credit, debit, or SNAP cards.
Since tokens can be used at any Crescent City Farmers Market event, you don't have to worry about spending all of yours right away if you buy more than you need on your first visit. Different colored tokens have different restrictions, though, so review the rules that apply to yours before attempting to spend them.
Freret Market comes to town on the first Saturday of every month between October and April. The next market event of the season is set for February 7th from 11 AM to 4 PM. More than 70 vendors will be there selling things like:
As you walk around, you'll enjoy live demonstrations and performances by local bands. Before you leave, stop by the pet adoption area to meet pets from nearby animal rescue centers.
The market will return one final time this winter for a massive street festival on March 28th. Many of the same vendors will be present on both dates, so consider coming back if you enjoy your experience this February.
