Vermilionville Living History Museum and Folklife Park

Vermilionville is an unconventional museum that brings the city's past to life with live demonstrations on topics such as: 

• Cooking using traditional ingredients and techniques 
• Traditional folk music and dance 
• Accordion crafting

There are also plenty of traditional exhibits with placards and artifacts that you can examine at your leisure.  

The park is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for kids aged 5 to 18. 

CFMA Cajun Jam

Musicians and music fans alike will love spending an afternoon at the CMFA Cajun Jam this winter. Every Saturday from 1 PM to 3 PM, local musicians gather at the Performance Center of Vermilionville for some casual creative collaboration. They work on new songs, experiment with new melodies and chord progressions, and swap insights on each other's work – all while trying out their ideas in real time. 

The jam is open to musicians of all skill levels as well as anyone who wants to listen to the performers while they work. It's free to attend, but you'll need to buy a ticket to the park to get to the show area. You can explore the attraction before and after the jam.  

Milton's 1st Christmas Parade

Help the Milton Civic Organization kick off a new winter tradition at their very first Christmas Parade on December 7th. Starting at 5 PM, a fleet of floats, decorated trucks, and local performance groups will march through the streets of Milton to the tune of lively holiday music. 

Stick around at Picard Park after the main procession for a community block party with games, music, and goodies like Sneaux ViBez's shaved ice snowball treats available for purchase. The gathering is expected to last until around 8 PM. 

Twinkle Light Night

Treat the kids in your life to an exciting holiday evening at Twinkle Light Night, a one-night benefit party held at the Children's Museum of Acadiana. The museum will be decorated for the occasion and feature indoor attractions like: 

• Meet-and-greets with characters like the Grinch, Anna and Olaf from Frozen, and Santa himself 
• A "snow" play area with lots of white kinetic sand to squish and build with 
• A workshop for making DIY mini snowball launchers 
• Craft stations for creating ornaments, jingle bell necklaces, and shaving cream Christmas trees 
• The Stuffy Olympics, a special sporting event just for stuffed toys 
• Holiday-themed face painting 

Visit the museum on December 5th from 6 PM to 8 PM to join in the fun. Tickets are $12 per person with a 50% discount for museum members. 

Christmas in the Park

Moncus Park is hosting their 5th annual Christmas in the Park celebration from December 12th to 14th. Visit the park from 6 PM to 9 PM each night to enjoy free festive entertainment, including: 

• Santa's Workshop, a play area for young kids with bubbles, blocks, crafts, and other toys 
• A light tunnel perfect for snapping photos  
• Artificial snow for kids to play with and sled down 
• Live music from local bands on the 12th and 13th 
• An outdoor screening of the hit holiday movie Elf on the 14th  

The city has partnered with Service Chevrolet Cadillac to offer free shuttle service to the event from Blackham Coliseum's parking lot, so you won't have to pay for parking. You can use the money you save to buy goodies like s'mores kits, hot cocoa, and hot meals and snacks from some of the city's best food trucks.
