What to Know About Wednesday at the Square
The Wednesday at the Square concert series typically starts in late March, with free concerts throughout the spring every Wednesday evening at Lafayette Square. This year's series began on March 26, 2025, and wraps up with the final concert of the season on May 7, 2025. The bands that perform here come from a wide range of genres, so there's something new to hear each time that you visit.
There's never an admission fee for Wednesday at the Square concerts, and these shows provide a great chance to see well-known local artists. Some of New Orleans' most famous brass bands have been known to make appearances here, and depending on the show, you might hear anything from classic jazz to innovative pop.
While there's no admission cost, it doesn't hurt to arrive a little early in order to get the best views. You might also want to bring along some seating or a blanket, if you'd like to relax on the lawn during the show. There are typically a variety of food and drink booths around Lafayette Square during the concerts, featuring local specialties for dining as well as a wide range of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks for refreshment. -
Get to Know the Bands on May 7, 2025
The headlining act on May 7 will be Jourdan Thibodeaux et les Rôdailleurs, who pair the historic traditions of Cajun music with an innovative, energetic modern twist. They've performed at Jazz Fest, SXSW, and a variety of other big festivals. They'll be playing songs from their debut album as well as their newer album La Priere, which was released in 2023.
Bon Bon Vivant, led by lead vocalist Abigail Cosio, brings an up-tempo sound that mixes cabaret, rock, ballads, and high-energy dance to create a unique sound. They aim for every one of their shows to be a "celebration of life," and the love that they have for their craft really shines through on stage. -
