The 23-acre site alongside the Bayou Vermilion, which includes seven restored original homes with costumed interpreters, affords a unique insight into local life in the 19th century. When you're ready to move from land to water, there is a kayak and canoe launch located on the grounds of the Living History Museum & Folklife Park with self-service rental kiosks on site. Vermilionville is open six days a week from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admission is $6-$10.

Southside Park is open 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday through Monday, 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. Tuesday, 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. Friday.
